Solutions Architect 

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Remote

This position is responsible for gathering, understanding, and implementing business requirements through the design, development, and management of Operational Data Stores (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and Business Intelligence (BI) technologies.  Define the structure and processes to load data stores, define the data structures, develop and coordinate technical requirements, assist with data model (ERD), develop functional requirements for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, assist in production of business reports, dashboards, KPIs, and conduct source and target system data analyses when necessary.  Develop, manage and update technical architecture to facilitate data integration between, source systems, staging/ODS, data marts, and EDW, while minimizing additional technical debt for the Enterprise Data Services team. Working in either a waterfall or agile methodology.  Key skills include strong relational and dimensional modeling, excellent analytic & communication skills. Knowledge of healthcare business domain required.

  • Assist with creation of a robust, sustainable, and scalable Enterprise architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion with secured access (role-based security)
  • Collaborate with end users, business analysts, technical architects, and application developers to define the data requirements and data structure for BI solutions.
  • Design and implement conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse or data mart (data structure, storage, and integration).  Lead the database analysis, design, and build efforts.
  • Evolve data models to meet new, change, and growth of business requirements
  • Collaborate with business analysts to identify and understand requirements and source data systems.
  • Design data lineage and mapping of source system data to data warehouse models.
  • Develop and test ETL processes, provide functional requirement for developers.
  • Define, capture and document metadata and rules associated with ETL processes.
  • Ensure that the database designs fulfill the requirements, including data volume, frequency, and long-term BI growth requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members in Enterprise Data Services to ensure that all components work together to meet objectives and performance goals without generating additional technical debt.
  • Participate in validation, data quality management, and governance reviews.


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or BI; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience

 Ten years’ experience with progressively increased levels of responsibility with data modeling expertise including a strong understanding of data sources, relational and dimensional modeling, and effective uses of business data (validity, timeliness, and benefit).  Experience in documenting data warehouse and data mart requirements and creating detailed task list and timeline for data integration projects.  Strong experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica and Data Services, as well as familiarity with standard data extract, de-duping, cleansing, integration, and aggregation techniques and best practices. Experience with BI tools. Experience with facilitating prototyping sessions with a variety of end users and stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

Understand of both traditional and latest cloud-based or hybrid BI Architecture.  Informatica PowerCenter 9.6.1.  Experience working with health care data.  Experience delivering solutions while adhering to best practice methods.  Use of Business Objects or Microsoft BI a plus.  Oracle and MS SQL Server experience a plus.  Familiarity with both Agile and Traditional SDLC methods.  Ability to develop work breakdown structures and detailed project plans and manage the activities of a team of developers, DBAs etc.
