Data Analyst
11 month contract (mid-Jan to Mid Dec 2025)
Hybrid onsite Minneapolis-Bloomington area 2 days/week
Our client is in need of a Data Analyst to take data from raw sources (200 databases etc) and perform pipelining, data cleansing, standardize, and collaborate with vendors to integrate it.
Our client has an existing Azure data lake, so you will be using tools like Profisee for MDM, MS Purview for cataloging, Azure Synapse.
This position will focus on project- prioritized enterprise-wide requests for analyzing data to provide insights and support decision-making, which includes profiling, cleaning, and
transforming data; designing and building scalable data models; creating reports and visualizations; working with stakeholders to identify data needs.
An ideal candidate must have experience turning raw data into meaningful insights to help drive business strategies and operations using SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python / PySpark / Synapse
Notebooks for data analysis, and visualization tools. Experienced analyst skills like requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement and compliance/security adherence is also a critical part of
the position.
Main requirements:
o Gather, clean, and analyze data received and use from multiple sources, including vendors, internal databases and external APIs.
o Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify data schema, primary keys, data types, methods to identify changed record tracking trends, patterns, and
anomalies in the data.
o Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends in the data.
o Manage stakeholder and requestor engagement through:
– Understanding their data needs and provide tailored analytical solutions.
– Communicating complex data findings in a way that is understandable.
– Facilitating workshops/training to help make the most of analytics tools.
o Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulations, as well as maintain data security and privacy standard
Must have:
o Business Analysis experience
o Some pipelining experience to tweak existing pipelining (doesn’t need mulesoft chops)
o Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
o Proficiency in using SSMS for database management.
o Expertise in using Power BI for data visualization and creating interactive dashboards and reports.
o Knowledge of Python data analysis, scripting, and automation.
o Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
o Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Azure Synapse Analytics. (not AWS)
o Demonstrated skills in data cleansing, transformation, and preprocessing.
o Experience with Azure Data Studio for data analysis, visualization, and SQL Server management.
o Ability to use Azure Storage Explorer for managing and interacting with Azure Storage accounts, blobs, files, queues, and tables.
o Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics for data warehousing and big data processing.
Nice to have:
o Understanding of ETL/ELT (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.
o Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Azure Synapse Analytics.
o Experience with Azure cloud services.
o Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark.
