Title: Business Analyst – Analytics and Automation

Location: Hybrid

Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Summary: The BA serves an important role in the dev and expansion of analytics and process automation needs. This role needs to understand the nuances and complexities of data and potential solutions and insights which can be derived from it, but also needs to be a great communicator and listener who is personable and understands how to follow up and ask questions.

They will be responsible for working with business stakeholders throughout the company in understanding, refining, analyzlng and then translating their needs into functional requirements and detailed user stories. This will serve as a conduit between IT and the business units they support, while also helping the Director discover ways to solve the problems they are uncovering. This role works in close partnership with business partners, vendors, product owners, developers, and product administrators in the support of insights and automation.

is expected to quickly understand dept processes, pain points and work in partnership with cross-functional teams to help inform product roadmaps and deliverables and provide clear user stories and guidance to Product Dev teams.

Business Analyst – Analytics and Automation Platforms (Additional functions):

-Organize disparate info from multiple sources and then analyze/refine through follow up with stakeholders to ensure the problem is understood correctly and provide potential approaches to the development of solutions needed

-Translate distilled and refined functional requirements into detailed and focused user stories with proper acceptance criterium, definition of ready, definition of done, an all available supporting documentation and info necessary for successful dev of solutions

-Will work across teams to help inform business cases for large projects and initiatives

-Provides awareness and potential paths for solutions that may have been missed within initial requirements – can read between the lines

-Communicate with multiple levels of the org to inform, instruct, and request with clear, professional, respectful voice and written language

Required Qualifications:

Proven experience working within data-driven organizations that rely heavily on insights and have taken advantage of automating mundane tasks

-Familiarity with Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Databricks and Power BI

Solid exp with creating detailed user stories from detailed and refined requirements gathering

-Customer-oriented and natural curiosity to ask questions to get to the heart of the problem and flesh out the needs of the customer including following up when needed

-Analytical mind with the ability to decipher complex needs vs report on what they have heard

-Strong organizational skills with the ability to set clear objectives, develop a plan on how to execute, and provide detailed reports and user stories

-Experience and familiarity with CI/CD and version control systems – Azure DevOps preferred

-Ability to present ideas at all levels of the organization in a business-friendly manner

Ability to work independently and think critically, troubleshoot and solve complex problems in a fast-paced, changing environment where, at times, clear guidelines may not exist

-Understanding of workflow and process requirements of the business areas and how to translate them to the Development team

-Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and experience working with development teams.

Additional requirements:

This is a hybrid role with 2 days minimum in the office-however may be called upon to be in the office more on occasion as this role does work closely with business stakeholders

-Experienced 4+ years of relevant IT or related business area expertise as a Business Analyst within the data space and data projects

-Experience in research-questioning techniques and ability to follow up to flesh out the needs of the stakeholders vs their list of wants

-You like to ask, “why not” and explore responses further when unclear instead of accepting the response – you don’t believe there are dumb questions, just unclear answers
